The Georgia Tech baseball roster team is set to have another great season! Here’s a look at the roster for the 2019 season.

Roster

The Georgia Tech baseball roster is full of talented young men who are eager to make their mark on the diamond. The team is led by head coach Danny Hall, who has been with the program since 1994.

The Yellow Jackets have a strong pitching staff, led by senior left-hander Jonathan Hughes. Hughes was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year in 2017 and was a first-team All-American. He’ll be joined in the rotation by junior right-hander Tristin English, who was also named a first-team All-American. The bullpen will be anchored by junior right-hander Connor Thomas, who saved 13 games last season.

The offense will be led by senior outfielder Chase Murray, who hit .333 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI last season. He’ll be joined in the outfield by junior Austin Wilhite, who hit .305 with eight home runs and 36 RBI last season. In the infield, the Yellow Jackets will look to senior second baseman NickWilhite to provide some pop at the plate. He hit .294 with nine home runs and 33 RBI last season.

The Yellow Jackets have high expectations for the 2018 season and they’ll be looking to make a run at an ACC Championship.

Coaches

The Yellow Jackets’ coaching staff is led by head coach Danny Hall. He is joined by assistant coaches Lane Burroughs, Corey Lipkowitz, and Michael Hirsch.

Coach Hall has been at the helm of the Georgia Tech baseball program since 1994. He has amassed 939 wins in his time at Tech, which is the most in school history. Under his guidance, the Yellow Jackets have made 23 appearances in the NCAA tournament, including 12 trips to the College World Series.

Assistant coach Lane Burroughs is in his first season on the Tech coaching staff. Prior to coming to Atlanta, he spent four seasons as head coach at North Carolina State. Coach Burroughs has also served as an assistant coach at LSU and Tulane.

Corey Lipkowitz is in his third season as an assistant coach at Tech. He previously served as head coach at Kennesaw State University for five seasons. Coach Lipkowitz has also been an assistant coach at Iowa State and Clemson.

Michael Hirsch is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Yellow Jackets. He comes to Tech after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt. Prior to his time in Nashville, Coach Hirsch was an assistant coach at UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State.

Schedule

The 2020 Georgia Tech baseball season will begin on February 14, when the team travels to face Clemson. The Yellow Jackets will then have a three-game home series against Wright State before heading back on the road to take on South Carolina.

Georgia Tech will have its first ACC series of the season at home against Virginia Tech from March 6-8. The Yellow Jackets will then travel to Miami (March 13-15) before hosting Duke (March 20-22).

The Yellow Jackets will close out the month of March with a five-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against Notre Dame (March 27-29). Georgia Tech will then host Kennesaw State for a two-game midweek series (March 31-April 1).

In April, Georgia Tech will play host to Boston College (April 3-5), Pittsburgh (April 10-12), and North Carolina (April 17-19). The Yellow Jackets will hit the road for an ACC series at NC State (April 24-26) before returning home for a three game set against Wake Forest (May 1-3).

Georgia Tech will close out the regular season with an ACC series on the road at Virginia (May 8-10). The 2020 ACC Baseball Tournament is scheduled to take place from May 19-24 in Durham, North Carolina.

Game Results

The Georgia Tech baseball team has seen a lot of success over the years, and this season is no different. The team has a strong lineup with plenty of experience, and they’ve been able to put together a string of impressive results.

In their most recent game, the Yellow Jackets took down the Clemson Tigers by a score of 9-3. It was a complete team effort, with everyone contributing on both sides of the ball. The pitching staff did an excellent job of keeping the Tiger hitters off balance, and the offense put up enough runs to secure the victory.

This win moved Georgia Tech’s record to 28-15 on the season, which is good for second place in the ACC Coastal Division. They’ll be looking to build on this success as they head into the final stretch of conference play.

On the mound, the Yellow Jackets are led by pitchers Jared Datoc (4-0, 1.93 ERA) and Zac Grotz (3-1, 2.67 ERA).
