The Best Oculus Quest 2 Bluetooth Headphones

Does the Oculus Quest 2 Bluetooth headphones? That seems to be the question every Oculus Quest 2 owner is asking now.

While the Oculus Quest 2 has a built-in audio system, is it possible to use headphones? There are times when this can help outright. Playing a game when you don’t want to disturb other people, or maybe watching a movie in bed, for example.

We’ll answer the Bluetooth headphone question, and tell you what Oculus has to say about using the headphones. Here’s what we know about Oculus Quest 2 Bluetooth Headphones Continue.

Does Oculus Quest 2 Bluetooth Headphones Support Bluetooth?

Officially, Oculus makes no claims of compatibility with Bluetooth headphones. On their support pages, Oculus states the following:

The Quest 2 has both a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a USB-C headphone jack.

So, while they acknowledge wired headphone support, they make absolutely no mention of Bluetooth compatibility. In fact, it was only on July 20, 2021, that Oculus officially made USB-C headphones compatible with the Quest 2.

However, even though Bluetooth headphones are not ‘officially’ supported, there may still be a way for players to connect them to their headsets. Thanks to the experiential features Oculus offers.

How to pair Bluetooth headphones with Oculus Quest 2?

Enabling experimental features on your Quest 2 headset will allow you to connect your headset via Bluetooth. And yes, you can connect your Air Pods to Oculus Quest 2 too. Follow these steps:

  1. On your Quest 2, open the Settings menu.
  2. Select experimental features.
  3. Turn on your headphones and make sure they are detectable, then press the Pair button with Bluetooth pairing
  4. Select your headsets from the list of hand devices, and you should be good to go.

It’s worth pointing out that this isn’t something that’s officially supported by Quest 2 at the moment. Therefore, there may be issues with lag and audio being out of sync. This seems to be more of a problem with games than with apps like Netflix.

If using Bluetooth headphones is something you really want to try, there’s nothing wrong with doing so. This will not void your warranty or break your Quest 2. Just be prepared not to be too disappointed if the experience isn’t what you expected.

We’ll have to wait and see if Oculus will introduce this functionality in the future, and the jury is still out on whether the Meta Quest 3 will even have Bluetooth.
